Deposit your worn, unserviceable U.S. Flags into the drop box located in the Big Canoe Postal Facility.
Scouts and veterans will collect them and, from time to time, they will conduct a ceremony to retire the worn flags by burning them in a dignified and respectful manner.
The ashes of the flags will be interred in a memorial monument located in the Big Canoe Cemetery.
We do these things as a reminder the Flag of the United States, the honored and patriotic symbol of one great nation under God, deserves our respect when flying and when it needs to be retired.
The United States Flag Retirement Program pamphlet provides instruction on how to properly fold the Flag of the United States of America.
